Did you have a cesarean birth?  What do you think about natural birthing?  Do you feel like you were given birthing choices or did your doctor tell you what you had to do?

  1. I had a cesarean birth. I feel like was given all my birthing choices and my doctor(s) were very honest, helpful and supportive in what I wanted and what my body was telling us. I was trying to have my son naturally and wanted too. Over the course of 4-5 days I was in labor. Eventually his head got stuck in my pelvis, his heart rate dropped dramatically and I had a c-section. The reasons I believe this happened was due to my own medical problem. I have scoliosis, therefore my spine is curved..my hips and pelvis are always shifting, and not in alignment. This made it difficult/impossible for my baby to get through the birthing canal. If it wasn't for having a c-section I don't want to know what would have happened.

That being said recovery from a c-section was pretty brutal. I didn't feel FULLY recovered until my son was 1.5 years old. It's not something I would have do, unless it was saving my babies life and my own.

I appreciate that my doctors tried their hardest to help me have a natural birthing process, but when his heart rate dropped dramatically I could see it in their eyes that they looked scared, serious and honest about the situation.

Don't ask me about the expeirence afterwards int the maternity ward with some of the nurses and lactation specialist..ugh horrible expeirences there! :P Next time I have a baby I want a mid-wife or doula with me for the extra support:)

  2. I'm glad that you feel like you had choices. It sounds like in your case, the c-section was necessary.

I also was blessed to have a doctor who went with my wishes. I can't imagine what it would be like to have a doctor who tried to tell me what I HAD to do.

I would love to have had a doula, but my husband was as good as one! He did all the research about birthing, so he knew exactly what to expect. He was a great support.

I had lots of problems with breastfeeding later, but my time at the hospital was wonderful. Strangely, I was born in the same hospital 27 years before.

  3. That's wonderful you had a doctor that went with your wishes :) I can't imagine what I would have done either! And yeah I agree that my c-section ended up being necessary :) Not that I would want to do it again unless it was life saving..it's such a rough recovery..ugh

My hubby was my doula too! I think I hugged him to hard during one of my contractions lol! Too funny :D

That's so neat you were born in the same hospital as your son! So sweet :)
