RECIPE: Strawberry Banana Smoothie

Strawberry Banana Smoothie
Winter is here in Nebraska!  After having a "brown Christmas," we have had inches of snow every week.  The cold makes me want to load up on unhealthy food and stay indoors!

Smoothies are a great way to get your fruits and veggies first thing in the morning!  I'm enjoying mine right now.


*1 16 oz. bag frozen strawberries, thawed
*1 ripe or over-ripe banana
*Bunch of spinach

1. Pour bag of strawberries and juice into Vita-mix or other high speed blender
2. Add peeled banana and spinach
3. Blend thoroughly.  Smoothie will be either pink, orange, or brownish, depending on how much spinach you add. 
4. Refrigerate, if desired, up to 24 hours.  Banana may make smoothie thicken or turn brownish.

Yields around 1 quart of smoothie.

1. Make your smoothie the night before for a quick breakfast the next day.
2. Quart jars are perfect for storing smoothies.
